Hot Seconds Rock Club NME

Hot Seconds: February 12 @ Club NME at The Annex, New York, NY

I dropped by The Annex for Club NME night to see Hot Seconds. This is becoming a habit, cool nights and Hot Seconds on the Lower East Side. It's not a bad habit to have either.

Last month when I went to see them, they whetted my appetite with new songs. I was giddy afterwards and even used the word huzzah. I went to this show looking forward to hearing the new songs again, and hopefully additional ones. What can I say, I'm greedy when it comes to new music! Well, the lads of Hot Seconds, James Love (vocals/guitar/harmonica/tambourine), Eran Westwood (guitar), Marcel Simoneau (keyboards/guitar/megaphone), Bob Toria (bass) and Ian Hudgins (drums) made me a very happy woman.

Once again they rocked "When I Go" and played what has become my favorite Hot Seconds song, "Gone To Ground." The highlight of the night for me was the newest edition to their string of new songs, "Pink Caesar." It's a rocker that gets you up and moving not to mention they got funky in the middle, yeah you heard me, they got funky ... well damn! The added bonus, this song had Love relinquishing his guitar to Simoneau who stepped from behind his keyboards to rock out on guitar. I could actually see him for once! The favorites were played as well as their other new song "Born Again." Their cover of Massive Attack's "Teardrop" was back in the set. They played that back in October the first time I saw them.

They're bad ass and taking over the world one stage at a time. It's time to hoist another flag and declare another stage conquered, this time with the aid of a smoke machine. I had a great time. Hot Seconds are spoiling me with new songs and good shows.
