New York band Your 33 Black Angels have unleashed their debut music video. It's for the song "Lovers Limbo" from their upcoming record Pagan Princess. The record is set to drop on December 3. That is also the day of their record release party over at Mercury Lounge on the LES. Swing by and check them out! The good folks over at The Audio Perv have the new single from Spoon, "Written In Reverse," up. You can check it out HERE. I'm really diggin' this one. It's rather catchy. While New York isn't a city that is short on jazz, we are a city that gets used to having c
ertain things. So when we didn't get our annual George Wein produced jazz festival this past summer, for the first time in 37 years I might add, we missed it! Well, suffer no more New York, it's back.
Wein and his New Festival Productions will produce the 10-day CareFusion New York Jazz Festival which will take place June 17 - 26, 2010. Events will take place at several of the cities venues including Carnegie Hall, Central Park SummerStage, Crotona Park in the Bronx, City Winery, Harlem Stage Gatehouse, The Jazz Gallery, Jazz Standard, (Le) Poisson Rouge, Louis Armstrong House Museum, Music Hall of Williamsburg, Peter Norton Symphony Space, Prospect Park Bandshell: Celebrate Brooklyn, Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, Studio Museum in Harlem and The Town Hall.
And, you won't even have to wreck your budget getting your jazz on. That's always a good thing, isn't it? Most shows at partner venues will be priced between $15 – 20, making it possible for more music lovers to participate in festival events.
Artists and additional venue information will be announced at a later date.

If you like your rock a little more on the aggressive side, check them out. My favorite track on the record is "Black Lady."

Jazz impresario George Wein is well known as the man behind such legendary festivals a
s the Newport Jazz Festival and the Newport Folk Festival among many others. But, he has made a name for himself on the stage as well. This Tuesday, November 17 - Sunday, November 22, Wein and his Newport All-Stars will take the stage at Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola.
Who are these All-Stars you ask? They are, Howard Alden (guitar), Winard Harper (drums), Jay Leonhart (bass), Randy Sandke (trumpet) and Lew Tabackin (tenor saxophone) Yeah, that's a pretty stellar group of jazz cats Wein is bringing with him. Hear tell there will also be some very special guests.

cord on July 7, 2010. The record, Fire Burning Rain, will be released on her own Septem Records. You can grab the first single from the record, the hypnotic and haunting "My Love," using the handy widget below. The lyrics from the song were inspired by a Niki de Saint Phalle art book. This is one of those songs you'd play on a rainy night while sprawled out on floor cushions drinking wine, surrounded by candles and burning incense. I like those kind of songs.

Brazilian vocalist Bebel Gilberto is currently supporting her latest album, All In One. She'll s
tart her North American leg on November 18 in Miami Beach, FL. But never fear New York. Gilberto will be making a stop in this city of ours. She'll be at Hiro Ballroom. That's down around the meat packing district in The Maritime Hotel. I say that because I couldn't remember where Hiro was and had to look it up! Oh lookie there, I got side-tracked! Anyway, back to Gilberto's New York stop. The Hiro Ballroom date is November 25. And, for our neighbors in New Jersey, she'll be at Wellmont Theatre in Montclair on November 28.

Back in 1968, Elyse released her self-titled debut record. She had quite a buzz back then ap
pearing on The Tonight Show, in Newsweek among other things. All big deal stuff. Jump ahead to 1999. That's the year Andrew Rieger of Elf Power discovered and fell in love with the long forgotten album. He contacted Elyse, who now goes by the name Cori Bishop, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Orange Twin Records re-released her the self-titled Elyse and a couple of other songs recorded during that era. One of those songs, "Houses" even features Neil Young's guitar work. The record once again created a buzz and even inspired Dinosaur Jr. and others to cover her work.
Over the past several years, Elyse has been doing shows and has recorded her first album since the late 60's. The record, In My Own Sweet Time, is slated to hit shelves November 15. The record is a blend of melodic folk, country and pop. Check out the first single, "Anybody Out There?," from In My Own Sweet time below.
