The Heavy Releases New Video

The Heavy have released a video for their song "Curse Me Good".  The song is from their most recent album The Glorious Dead.  This is one of my favorite songs from the record.  Check out the clip below.

Q & A with Charles Davis of Cherokee Red

Cherokee Red landed on my radar about a month, maybe two months ago.  I’ve fallen for their tracks "Nightmares & Lullabies" and “Heavy Soul” which led me to wanting to know more about the band.  With their self-titled debut album being released April 16, and a show at Bowery Electric the same night, it seemed like the perfect time to get to know a bit more about the band.

I sent over some questions; the band's Charles Davis sent over some answers. This is the result of our Q& A. Check it out below.

Quirky NY Chick (QNYC): Tell us a little about yourself.  How did the band come together?

Charles Davis (CD): Did and does come through the singing siren of our home city Wilkes- Barre, PA and our mutual respect for one another.

The Avett Brothers, Feist & More Added To Newport Forlk Festival Line-up

 

The Newport Folk Festival announced this past Friday that The Avett Brothers will be the headliner for Saturday's show.  The festival has also recently announced Feist, Amanda Palmer, Colin Meloy, Justin Townes Earl, Old Crow Medicine Show and Beth Orton among others.

The Newport Folk Festival takes place July 26 - 28 at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, RI.  Saturday and Sunday tickets are sold-out.  Friday tickets are still available.

Junip Releases New Video

Junip has released a new video for their song "Your Life, Your Call".  The song is from their upcoming album Junip which is scheduled for release on April 23. They will be making a stop in NYC at Highline Ballroom on Thursday, June 13. Doors are at 8PM.  Tickets are $20.  Check out the video below.
