Television: Cast Announced For Doctor Who Spin-Off, "Class"

Class cast (L-R): Vivian Oparah, Greg Austin, Sophie Hopkins, Fady Elsayed and Katherine Kelly. Photo Credit: Ray Burmiston © BBC
Stars of BBC America's Doctor Who spin-off, Class, have been announced. Greg Austin, Fady Elsayed, Sophie Hopkins and Vivian Oparah will portray students at Coal Hill School. Fans of Doctor Who are well familiar with Coal Hill as it's the school Susan Forman, the Doctor's granddaughter, attended and where companions Ian Chesterton, Barbara Wright and most recently Clara Oswald taught. Joining the series as well, will be Katherine Kelly, who has been cast as a teacher.

Filming for the series started this week.

These four Coal Hill School students have hidden secrets and desires. They are facing their own worst fears, navigating a life of friends, parents, school work, sex, sorrow – and possibly the end of existence.
Class is a YA series set in contemporary London. It is scary, funny, and as painful and sharp as youth. It will also shine a light on a whole new corner of the Whoniverse.
From Writer Patrick Ness, Director Ed Bazalgette (Poldark, Doctor Who), Producer Derek Ritchie, and Executive Producers Patrick Ness, Steven Moffat and Brian Minchin, the BBC Cymru Wales production, co-produced with BBC AMERICA and BBC Worldwide, starts filming today. The series will air on BBC Three in the UK.

Ashley Shadow To Release Debut Album, 4/15

Ashley Shadow is scheduled to release her self-titled debut on April 15 via Felte. Check out "Tired" from the upcoming album below.

You can pre-order Ashley Shadow HERE.

With the release of her eponymous debut album, Ashley Shadow has at long last taken center stage after a decade of valuable contributions to highly regarded, diverse musical acts. Though bestowed with a strong voice both lulling and bracing in its quality, Ashley spent the first five years of her musical career playing bass guitar for rock-noir outfit The Organ before recording, and sometimes performing with acts like Pink Mountaintops, The Cave Singers, Lightning Dust and Bonnie Prince Billy.
Her self-titled debut endeavors to find certainty amidst incessant change and ensures that her talent -- a secret long known around her home of Vancouver, British Columbia -- will be shared with the rest of the world's melody lovers. Enlisting the help of producer and multi-instrumentalist Josh Wells (Black Mountain), guitarists Ryan Beattie (Himalayan Bear), Peter Le Grand and Darcy Hancock, Ashley Shadow has asserted an independent stake in the musical community she has enriched for so long.
Prior to focusing on her own songwriting, Ashley has given much of her heart and energy to working with the marginalized, at risk population in Vancouver. When she stepped back to reflect on these experiences, songs were inspired by both relationships during that time and the unique emotional work and struggles she involved herself in.

Television: American Idol Prepares To Take Its Bow

After fifteen seasons, FOX's reality singing competition, American Idol, will say goodbye in a two night finale.

I have been an on and off viewer of American Idol missing some seasons in their entirety. But, I watched this season…I might as well see how it all ends. For the record, I'm rooting for La'Porsha…sorry Trent and Dalton. It would be fitting to end as it began with a big voiced woman.

American Idol will air Wednesday, April 6 and Thursday, April 7 at 8 PM ET on FOX.
