Abbe May Pays Homage To Robert Palmer

Abbe May recently released a video for her song, “Perth Girls”.  The Paul Komadina directed video pays homage to Robert Palmer’s classic 80’s video, “Simply Irresistible”.  Where Palmers oft offbeat dancing models perfected the art of vapid cheesiness and unintentional humor, May’s look simply bored.  Bored looking models aside, the homage made a chick, who spent a lot of the 80s ensconced in front of the television watching music videos, smile.  “Perth Girls” is from May’s album Kiss My Apocalypse.  Check out the clip below.

Video of the Day: Abbe May - "Taurus Chorus"

Australian rocker Abbe May has released a video for her song "Taurus Chorus" and was directed by Zena Loxton. The song is from May's new album Design Desire which was released earlier this month. Check out the video below.

An enigmatic artist, Abbe May has been brewing her captivating live show and unique rock 'n' roll over the past four years, which has seen her accumulate numerous accolades and a passionate fan-base along the way.

Growing up in a Western Australian country town, Abbe May is an intense and primal live performer, capable of slaying an audience with her electric guitar and then stripping it back to a disarmingly intimate delivery.

Working through WA's notorious talent pool to the top of the tree, Abbe impressed both local and national industry, before an explosion of recognition for her singles 'Mammalian Locomotion' and 'Design Desire' led to the album becoming one of the most anticipated in the international blogosphere.

Abbe May Releases Video For New Single "Mammalian Locomotion"

Australian singer-songwriter Abbe May released the first single from her upcoming album this week. The song, "Mammalian Locomotion" has a fuzzy undertone. It's one of those songs that sounds vaguely familiar yet totally fresh. May's vocals remind you, or at least me, just how sexy rock 'n' roll is. I'm curious to hear the upcoming record which is scheduled for release in May 2011. In the meantime, check out the video for "Mammalian Locomotion" below.
After months in the studio with a new band, Abbe May has emerged with a whole lot of material sporting an even darker rock sound. The first single from her forthcoming album, MAMMALIAN LOCOMOTION begins to chart new musical territory for Abbe through an emotive exploration of human desire at its most fundamental level.

The MAMMALIAN LOCOMOTION film clip is a reflection of the contradictory elements of fierceness and subtle femininity found in the song. Shot in Brooklyn, New York with UK Director Zena Loxton, the clip features the ever under-stated and brooding Abbe and three snake-hipped roller dancing women from Brooklyn with moves that only women from roller-derby groups such as ‘Sisters In Motion’ could possess!
