Amos Lee Releases New Single + Tour Dates

Amos Lee released his new single, "Vaporize", on June 3.  It's the first single from his upcoming album. I really like Amos Lee but, sorry, I'm just not feeling this song. Check it out below. You can pick it up HERE.

Saturday, September 10
1260 6th Avenue
New York, NY
Doors: 7PM / Show: 8PM

This is the first release from his forthcoming sixth full-length album and debut for John Varvatos Records/Republic Records.

“Vaporize” indicates a distinct musical evolution for the critically acclaimed Philadelphia singer and songwriter. Driven by expansive production, elegant keys, and his unmistakable soulful delivery, the song immediately enchants and signals a bright new chapter for LEE.
AMOS comments on the release of the new single, “I wrote the verse and chorus of "Vaporize” one day.  Then put it on the shelf for a while until I heard “Studio” by ScHoolboy Q, which made me wanted to find a way to do something with that flavor in a room with a drummer and bass player.  Add to it live strings moods, and an incredible rhythm section, and you get the core of “Vaporize.”

Label founder and namesake and fashion icon John Varvatos says, "I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to work with such an amazing talent . Amos is one of the great singer songwriters of our  generation , and his new album is groundbreaking ."

What I Did This Summer: Newport Folk Festival, Day 2

Today we have a look at day two of the 2011 Newport Folk Festival. The legendary festival was a great mix of classic an
d modern folk.

On the main stage where we spent most of our time, we got the soulfulness of Amos Lee, had one heck of a party with Miss Wanda Jackson and a musical journey with the Carolina Chocolate Drops who one minute played traditional folk from the 20's to beat boxing the next even tossing in a cover of R&B pop song "Hit 'em Up Style (Oops!)." Also on the main stage, Elvis Costello, headliner Emmylou Harris and the David Wax Museum who played one of the smaller stages as contest winners the previous year.

Meanwhile, over on the Quad stage, Middle Brother killed and The Secret Sisters charmed. At the Alex and Ani Harbor Stage, my guest blogger, Addison Braver Walsh, loved The Head and the Heart and I might have squealed a little bit and definitely sang along when Brown Bird, after an already impressive set, launched into the classic "Jackson" to close their set.

If you missed it or want to re-live it, this is what it looked like!
