Rodney Crowell Releases New Album

Out today, July 13, is the latest album from Rodney Crowell, Acoustic Classics. Mr. Crowell has taken some of his classic songs and made all acoustic recordings of them. The album is the debut release on his newly launched label RC1.

A creative powerhouse with no off switch, the acclaimed songwriter, musician, author and poet is adding yet another title to his already esteemed pedigree; label head.  As prolific today, as he was in his twenties, Crowell has released six albums in the last ten years.  Next on deck is a re-distilled, acoustic presentation of 12 masterfully-crafted tunes from his 40-plus-year career in a truly intimate setting.  “With the help of some of my favorite musicians, I’ve made all acoustic instrument recordings of ten of my most recognizable songs. Also included is a couple more recently written that I want people to hear. There’s even a revised version of my most commercially successful song, "Shame on the Moon,” said Crowell.  “All in good fun.”

You can pick up Acoustic Classics HERE.

Adia Victoria Releases New EP

Adia Victoria has released a new EP. How It Feels consist of three covers and once original all sung in French. Check out her cover of "Laissez Tomber Les Filles" below. How It Feels can be picked up HERE.

Adia notes, "I wanted this EP to take on a more eerie feel. Instead of the imagined dream pop girl wishing for her man to come home I reimagined the lyrics as sung by a lover scorned but still love sick and obsessed. I wanted to keep the timeless feel of these songs while breathing into them a bit of modernity; sharpen the edges a bit. What if 'Parlez Moi de Lui' were more of a hazey, trip out love letter from a woman still haunted by lost love. What if her in deranged mind her man still danced in and out of sight, just out of touch? I wanted to inject 'Laissez Tomber Les Filles' with a bit of the anger and danger I felt as a new political era descended on our country. This session would prove to be therapeutic in channeling my frustration with the current political landscape into powerful songs sung by iconic, emotional women. This EP was a way express all these feelings in a tangible way. There is so much emotionality to women that is often policed. This project gave me the chance to shake off those restrictions, free myself from my own mother tongue and speak in universal themes that flow beyond the borders of language."

Track List

  • "Laissez Tomber Les Filles" (written by Serge Gainsbourg, popularized by France Gall)
  • "Ça a Raté" (Francoise Hardy)
  • "Parlez Moi De Lui (Francoise Hardy)
  • "You Know How It Feels" (Adia Victoria)

Aly Tadros Releases New Record

Aly Tadros is releasing her new album Hungry Ghost today, December 2. Check out "This Is How You Lose Her" from the album below.

Hungry Ghost is void of tongue-and-cheek communication, with songs inspired by overcoming alcoholism, the death of her father, relationships and more. Produced by Kevin Salem (Rachael Yamagata, Yo la Tengo, Mike Doughty) and Tadros herself, the album follows debut Things Worth Keeping (2009), 2013's The Fits and a whopping ten U.S. and four European tours.

The title Hungry Ghost, is borrowed from Buddhism. A "hungry ghost" is an insatiable creature, with a bowling ball-sized belly and pin-sized mouth; and though they are hollow, transparent beings they have a crippling appetites.

Hungry Ghost can be picked up HERE.
