Hank & Cupcakes Release New Album + Tour Dates

Duo, Hank & Cupcakes are back with Cheap Thrill, their new album. Cheap Thrill is raw, energetic, refreshing, and fun. Cheap Thrill is impassioned, bold and fuzzed out sexiness.

The Quirky NY Chick designated standout track "Waiting", is an emotional tour de force. This is the 'play it again!' song. Check out the lead track, the groove heavy, falsetto "Kiss Your Face" below.

Hank & Cupcakes are hitting the road for a summer tour. New York, they're playing (le) poisson rouge on August 11. See below for more details and tour dates. I highly recommend seeing them live. Their shows are high energy, sexy celebrations. And, if you miss them on this tour, you'll have to wait a while to see them again. The pair will be taking some time off as they're expecting their first little 'Hank or Cupcakes'…congratulations!

Hank & Cupcakes - “Cocaina”

Hank & Cupcakes released a video for their song “Cocaina” yesterday.  The video was shot almost entirely on their iPhone.  The track is from their upcoming album Cash For Gold which is scheduled for release this summer. Check it out below.

This is the first time we've made a music video completely on our own, we shot almost all of it, edited it - the works! It's another step on our path to creative independence & having the ability to realize our own vision which feels really good. For those wondering about 'The Booty Factory' in the video credit, since we're wearing so many hats at the moment, we came up with a pseudonym which will represent us in everything we do that isn't actually Hank & Cupcakes.

Hank & Cupcakes Announce Tour

Hank & Cupcakes announced their Winter/Spring 2013 Tour.  The tour kicks off in New York next Tuesday, February 12 at Pianos.  Doors are at 7PM, it'll cost you $8 with the whole 21+ stipulation.  They will be over in Brooklyn on Wednesday, April 3 at Brooklyn Bowl.  It all happens at 8PM / Doors 6PM.  It'll cost you $8 and is also 21+.  Their shows are super fun (but you already know that, right?) so, I highly recommend going to one or both shows.

Hank & Cupcakes Get Naked

Earlier this month, Brooklyn based duo, Hank & Cupcakes released their Ludwig Boss produced, full-length debut album, Naked.  It's eleven irresistible songs that immediately get stuck in your head.  I've spent the last few weeks under the weather and the infectious Naked has been my go to feel good album.

For those familiar with Hank & Cupcakes' shows, you'll notice right off the bat that Naked manages to capture their live energy.  From Hank's seductive rhythms and fuzzy bass effects to Cupcakes pounding drum beats, everything that has made the pair one of New York's hottest acts is captured.  The only thing missing is an audience full of people dancing themselves into a sweaty mess. 

Cupcakes strong, oft times sassy, sometimes gritty vocals guide you through their fun, funky, rhythmic wonderland of well crafted, catchy songs.  Naked is easily one of the top releases of 2012.  I suggest you get on board with this record now.  

Hank & Cupcakes may not be FDA approved but they come pretty darn close to curing what ails with this release.

We had a week of pre-production rehearsals in an old building in East Berlin and then entered the studio for 10 days, working at an average of 16 hours a day. We originally planned to record 8 songs but working with Ludwig Boss was so fruitful and the time we spent in Berlin was so magical and inspiring that we ended up recording 14 songs. ‘NAKED’ includes 10 of these recordings, a re-master of HIT and a remix for our song ‘Aint No Love’ produced by Will “The 83^rd” McNair and featuring Kalae All Day.

We feel that the album has a wholesome sound yet a diverse lineup of songs. There are pop oriented songs such as Born Again, Fly, Liquid Mercury & Aint No Love as well as rougher songs such as See Through, Sweet Potion & Pleasure Town. HIT & Jersey Girl are more on the dance music side and we even have a ballad - Tame The Fool, to show our hidden soft side. Aint No Love & Pleasure Town, previously released on our 2010 EP were re-recorded at Hansa and in our opinion have reached a level of precision that we hadn’t managed to achieve before. We’re very happy with the result and can’t wait to share this album with the world!

Back in October, we were at Mercury Lounge to watch Hank & Cupcakes heat things up. So, today we have for you a clip from that show. They're performing their cover of "She's Lost Control." Even though the camera audio is a bit dodgy, you can see why they're a must see band; they're infectiously fun and funky.

Earlier this month I was down at Mercury Lounge. On the bill that night, New York based duo Hank & Cupcakes. Until now, they were one of those bands that I kept missing. Something always came up when they were playing around town. I must say, it has been my loss and I'm happy to have finally rectified the situation. I already knew I liked their music. In fact, if I'd been spinning vinyl, I would have worn the grooves off their self-titled EP. Luckily for us, they've just finished recording a new record so we have that treat to look forward to.

Hank & Cupcakes put on a fun, funky, sexy, infectious, "ah hell, it's a party up in here!" show. The audience was in party mode, cheering them on, singing along and dancing up a sweat. If you don't have fun at one of their shows, seek therapy immediately! They're are a must see. Do yourself a favor and go see them up close and personal before they blow up to Gaga status and you're in the nose bleed section at Madison Square Garden watching the fun.

Hank & Cupcakes To Play Pianos, Saturday, 7/17

Brooklyn based duo Hank & Cupcakes will be at Pianos on the LES this Saturday, July 17. They’re on at 11PM and it’ll cost you 10 greenbacks. Their live shows have created a lot of buzz so mark your calendars.

I posted a video for their cover of Joy Division’s “She’s Lost Control” (below in case you missed it) a couple of weeks ago. The song is from their brilliantly fun, sexy, self-titled Hank & Cupcakes EP which is available on their website. The record kicks off with the infectious and bass driven “Ain’t No Love.” It's my favorite of the lot but the whole EP is hot so picking a favorite is hard and pointless! If "Ain't No Love" and “Pleasure Town” don’t get you up and shaking your booty, you might want to check to see if you have cement in your drawers. I recommend this one folks.
