The Dig To Release New Album In February + Video

The Dig are set to release their new album, Bloodshot Tokyo, via Roll Call Records in February. They recently shared the video from their new single, "Simple Love". Check it out below.

“In the past I think we’ve tried to create a mindset of writing ‘for The Dig’”, says guitarist/keyboard playing Erick Eiser, “So as to create something cohesive. This time I think we really freed ourselves from that, and just wrote.” They made the most of their interconnectedness as a way to push themselves forward, writing what singer and bassist Emile Mosseri describes as “elaborate demos” for most of the songs. Arrangements were fully worked out, ideas were explored and re-explored before they sat down to record. Emile continues, “It’s not hard to write songs separately, but there’s a thing that happens where I’ll sometimes have the other guys in my head, even when I’m writing by myself. So in a way, we’re kind of always writing together even when we’re writing alone. We all grew up playing in different bands together since we were little kids, and have toured with and were inspired by all kinds of different bands for years. We did all this together, and I feel like writing this record was the sum of all those years. It’s the most wide spanning stylistically and colorful of our records, and also sounds the most like us.”

The Dig To Play NYC's Mercury Lounge, 6/5 + MP3

Rock band The Dig, David Baldwin (guitar/vocals), Erick Eiser (keyboards/guitar), Emile Mosseri (bass/vocals) and Jamie Alegre (drums), are releasing their new record, Electric Toys on June 8. And, you can't put out a new record without a little celebration. Seriously, you can't; it's a law carved in stone ... "Thou shalt party when unleashing that which is rock 'n' roll to the masses in recorded form." So, that's exactly what The Dig will be doing. On Saturday, June 5, they'll be having a wing ding (a record release party for the non-quirky peeps) down at Mercury Lounge. Y'all know you want to get your party on with them! To get you ready for the party and the record, check out the video for "Sad Sick Morning" and head down to the bottom of the post and download "Two Sisters In Love" in the MP3 Grab.

I've been listening to Electric Toys for a little while now and I am diggin' The Dig. It's a devilishly clever record that everyone should know about.

Meet The Dig

The Dig offers up all kinds of catchy pop goodness. Ya'll know I'm a fan of catchy goodness and so are you, right? Well, between playing all over the city, being on the road right now with The Editors and The Antlers and an upcoming tour with Portugal. The Man and Port O'Brien, you've probably gotten word of these guys already. If you by chance haven't heard them, check out "You're Already Gone" below. They will be releasing their full-length debut, Electric Toys, later this year.

The kinda sorta official list of reasons to check out The Dig ...
•Their work ethic is insane. For years they've been playing all over NYC regularly and hitting the streets with an endless stream of posters, flyers and free music (Fact: I had their robot postcard displayed in my kitchen for a year before I ever met them.)

• The Dig's forthcoming debut full-length Electric Toys was produced by Bryce Goggin (Pavement, Antony & the Johnsons, The Ramones, Bishop Allen)

• The Dig have played/toured with The Walkmen, White Rabbits, Here We Go Magic, Mission of Burma, The Soft Pack...

• Their the music is moody+poppy+catchy+sexy+dark+anthemic+dreamy
New Yorkers, The Dig will be taking the stage here! They'll be at Terminal 5 on February 19 with The Editors and The Antlers. A month later, they'll be at Highline Ballroom with Portugal. The Man and Port O'Brien on March 19.
