Jihae To Release New Album + Launches Kickstarter Project

Jihae will release her new album, Illusion of You, via her own Septem label in January 2014.  The record was executive produced by Dave Stewart who also co-wrote a track with Leonard Cohen and Jihae.  

On working with Dave Stewert, Jihae stated, "It was a fun learning experience working with Dave on this album. He is a mad scientist of a creative mind and has quirky ways of envisioning structure, sound and texture. Quite a joker too.. Loved hearing his stories of working with Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Brian Eno, Annie Lenox etc.. As Ringo Starr always said.. we said before each take, 'Good luck studio!'"

Jihae launched a Kickstarter project today to raise funds to complete the album process and do a proper tour.  Check out the project's video below.  She has already grabbed a bevy of attention with her smokey and sophisticated voice paired with her cool edginess.  With this upcoming record, Jihae is sure to breakthrough in a major way.

Jihae gave a live preview performance of her upcoming record, Fire Burning Rain, Tuesday night at Rockwood Music Hall. She's hypnotic. She's poetic. She gives off this cool, yet aloof vibe. The venue was intimate; the perfect place to see such an artist. This is the music you and your friends put on when you're rolling in late Saturday night, early Sunday morning and too wired to sleep. You put it on, uncork some wine, pass around the carton of overpriced, leftover Chinese food from earlier that evening that you just had to have for fear of instant starvation, sprawl out and talk till the sun starts rising. Q&A: 15 Questions With Jihae

Hypnotic, melodic, edgy, poetic, New York based songstress Jihae is currently in the studio working on her new record, Fire Burning Rain. The record is scheduled for release in July. But, I had the opportunity to send some questions over to her and the following is the results of my query.

(QNYC) - How would you describe your sound to those who may be unfamiliar with your work?

(Jihae) - Electro-Rock with a dash of avant garde, pop and punk in a singer/songwriter spirit.

(QNYC) - You're currently working on your upcoming record, Fire Burning Rain. What can we expect from this record? How will it differ from your previous works?

(Jihae) - Every time I make an album I try to deliver something new. My Heart is an Elephant is an eclectic album and Elvis is Still Alive is more of a rock album with some songs that are a bit more experimental. Fire Burning Rain is a cleaner or more balanced marriage between both pop rock and experimental.

Jihae Set To Release New Record In 2010 + MP3

South Korea native, New York based, Jihae is slated to release her third full-length record on July 7, 2010. The record, Fire Burning Rain, will be released on her own Septem Records. You can grab the first single from the record, the hypnotic and haunting "My Love," using the handy widget below. The lyrics from the song were inspired by a Niki de Saint Phalle art book. This is one of those songs you'd play on a rainy night while sprawled out on floor cushions drinking wine, surrounded by candles and burning incense. I like those kind of songs.
