Check It Out: Larcenist
Boston based group Larcenist released their latest album Eager City, Patient Country in January. They have that folkie, alt-country sound laced with harmonies. I'm partial to "Dig Me Up" and "Old Iron Mill" personally. Check out the track "Faithful" from the album below.
Lenka To Release New Album
Australian singer/songwriter Lenka will release her third album Shadows on June 4. The record is available for pre-sale via a Pledge Music project. Check out the track "Faster With You" below.
Individuals who pre-order Shadows on PledgeMusic will receive a free instant download of "Faster With You." A portion of these proceeds will go to the charity Save the Children, which promotes children's rights, provides relief and helps support children in developing countries.
Lenka's new record is a highly personal collection of songs, penned while she was pregnant with her first child.
"I felt very free going into making this album. It was a solo mission, on my terms, my time, my choices," says Lenka. "Previously my music was focused on being uplifting and energizing. For this album, I shifted to create a lullaby soundtrack for myself, my child and everyone out there. I have always loved albums that one can fall asleep to; an experience I enjoyed a lot growing up. Those songs drift into your unconscious like no others."

The album, titled 'Momentum' for good reason, is bursting with ideas and inspirations which almost have a life of their own. Indeed, Jamie approached this record in a completely different way to his previous LPs, for the first time using DIY home demos as a blueprint for the majority of its tracks... and for a while, using everything from iPhone apps, charity shop keyboards and cassette recorders as his 'go-to' instruments during the process.

Sister Canyon To Release New EP In April
Sister Canyon is scheduled to release their EP Cynic on April 16 via Fake Four Inc. Check out the single "Floating Heads" below.
An off and on recluse, Terra Lopez spent countless hours in her Northern California bedroom each day, recording hundreds of gritty, personal demos with her classical guitar and MPC. Staring at the ceiling of her apartment, she taught herself how to sing by studying vocalists Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Jeff Buckley. It was during this time that Lopez started to form the sound and scope of what would become Sister Crayon. Shortly after, Lopez met Dani Fernandez and the two bonded over hip-hop and the MPC. Inseparable, the duo started collaborating and word spread quickly about Sister Crayon on the West Coast. Over the years, the project has undergone numerous lineup changes and been bolstered by the addition of live keys and drums. With drummer Omar Barajas in the mix, Sister Crayon’s live show is passionate, dynamic and emotionally resonant.

Jason Blum will release his new album, Radio Dial on March 26 on Bitchen Records.
While recording, Blum’s talents as a professional chef took him all around the state of Texas as he would cook to supplement his touring income. Doing so kept winning him new friends and supporters. He’s cooked for David Byrne and Norah Jones and even hosted a BBQ for Ian MacLagan and 100 friends for his 66th birthday party, right after his induction into the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame. As Jason observes, “I’d cook a meal for people and then get out my guitar and play them some songs.”
