Whitesnake Release Video From Upcoming CD/DVD Package

We mentioned a while back that Whitesnake will be releasing Made In Japan, their live CD/DVD package, on April 23 here in North America. The performance is from their co-headlining set at the Loud Park festival during their 2011 Forevermore World Tour.  A clip of "Fool For Your Loving" from the package was released about a week ago.  You can check it out below.

It's well documented that I'm a David Coverdale fan.  I've been hearing some folks discussing that his voice isn't what it was...he doesn't hit the high notes like he used to.  No, he doesn't. He smartly brings the key down like any singer with common sense would out of necessity and desire.  Yes, The Coverdale's voice is more gritty but that's not necessarily a 'flaw' unless all you want to hear is the classic, upper realms, howl. The moments where he does reach for the higher notes is when the roughness shows the most.  He's earned the roughness, thirty-five years of Whitesnake plus the years before that...yeah, earned.

This is what thirty-five years looks like...

Whitesnake to Release Live CD/DVD in April

Legendary rockers Whitesnake will be releasing a Live CD/DVD package, Made In Japan, on April 23 here in North America (April 19 in Europe and April 22 in the UK) via Frontiers Records.  The performance footage was taken from the co-headlining set vocalist David Coverdale and his Whitesnake, Doug Aldrich (guitars), Reb Beach (guitars), Michael Devin (bass), Brian Tichy (drums) and special guest Brian Ruedy (keyboards) performed at the Loud Park festival in October 2011.  The package will be available as a deluxe 2CD/DVD edition, Blu-ray and a stand alone DVD.

We all know I have a soft spot for The Coverdale so, I'm looking forward to this release.

The performance footage is shot in stunning HD in 5.1 and stereo and is taken from Whitesnake’s co-headlining set at the “Loud Park” festival on October 11th, 2011 held at Saitama Super Arena in Japan during their “Forevermore World Tour.” The performance was initially recorded only for Japanese TV and future Loud Park promotions.

MADE IN JAPAN contains songs from Whitesnake’s most recent studio album, FOREVERMORE, as well as classic hits such as “Is This Love,” “Still Of The Night” and “Here I Go Again.”  The bonus CD also includes never-before-heard outtakes and acoustic versions of material from the award winning FOREVERMORE album that were recorded during soundchecks on the 2011 Japanese tour. Review: Whitesnake Live At Donington 1990

This coming Tuesday, June 7, Whitesnake releases Live At Donington 1990 via Frontiers Records here in North America. The 2 CD and DVD packages are a welcome treat to fans whom this show has been a favorite of for years. The DVD contains never before seen footage of Whitesnake at a time some would say was their peak.

I'm a long time Whitesnake fan. Anyone who knows me has probably heard me say at some point David Coverdale can sing to me anytime, any place, for as long as he wants. This is Coverdale in full-throttle wailing rocker mode supported by a cast of stellar characters, Steve Vai (guitar), Adrian Vandenberg (guitar), Rudy Sarzo (bass) and Tommy Aldridge (drums) ... the all-star line-up, as many refer to this version of Whitesnake.

The favorites are here and the sound quality is good. Maybe a bit too good at times. When Coverdale pulls back his vocals and just sings without the theatrics as he does in the classic "Ain't No Love In The Heart Of The City," you can hear the end of the set roughness in his voice that comes from night after night of hitting those high notes. Good sound quality makes that a little more noticeable. And, that's not really a negative per se.

It has been a little while since I've heard live Whitesnake from that era. So, I was slightly concerned, that listening with somewhat fresh ears, that it might sound dated. Whitesnake was delightfully and brilliantly over the top during that period in time and I wondered if it was going to be as good as I remembered. Yeah, it's pretty darn close. At this stage in my listening I'm a little past the guitar and drum solo thing but they've held up well and sound good.

I haven't had a chance to check out the DVD portion but you can watch the trailer for the release below.

The LIVE AT DONINGTON 1990 DVD also includes a substantial gallery of never before seen stills of the band on the "Liquor & Poker World Tour 1990", plus an intimate behind-the-scenes documentary of the making-of the SLIP OF THE TONGUE album. LIVE AT DONINGTON 1990 will be available as a 2 CD set, a DVD coverpack, a combo 2 CD and DVD in digipak and digital editions. Please see below for the respective double CD and DVD track listings.

Whitesnake Releases New Video

Ah, it smells like love is in the air or perhaps it's the new Whitesnake video! The classic rockin' b
and has unveiled a video for "Love Will Set You Free," the lead single from their upcoming album Forevermore. The video was directed by Devin DeHaven/Fortress Entertainment. While I rather like the song, I could have done without the stripper dangling off the pole. That's so passé, so 80's. But, since I like The Coverdale, I'll forgive it.

Forevermore is scheduled for release March 29 in North America while my European friends can get their happy little hands on it March 25. The digital album is available for pre-order via the Whitesnake.com today and you'll get an instant download of "Love Will Set You Free" with your order. Pre-orders from other digital outlets will begin on February 21.

Those of you in the US and Canada, check out the video below. International friends, click HERE to check out the video.

Whitesnake To Release New Album In North America This March

Legendary rocker David Coverdale and his Whitesnake (guitarist Doug Aldrich, guitarist Reb Beach, bassist Michael Devin and drummer Brian Tichy) will release their new album Forevermore in North America on March 29. Forevermore will be Whitesnake's 11th studio album. It marks the band's first release with Italian based Frontiers Records.

It's said that Forevermore will find the band returning to their "bluesiest, sexiest rock n' roll roots" which works just fine for me. I'm a fan of the Coverdale voice at it's bluesiest.

You'll be able to get your happy rockin' little hands on "Love Will Set You Free," the first single from Forevermore, when it goes on sale digitally, February 15. For those of you who listen to radio, it'll hit the airwaves on February 8.

Also, keep an eye out for tour dates which will be announced soon. Whitesnake will travel the North American highways and byways in support of the record this May.
