Ash, Q Is For Binary?

Those lovable guys known as Ash, okay, I don't really know if they're lovable or not but they make good music. Anyway, they will be releasing 'Q' in their A-Z singles project on May 24. This song is called "Binary" and the video is below. Check it out.

In other Ash news, I got my physical copy of A-Z Vol. 1 (singles A-M) last week. It's really cute ... a little hardcover book that contains the CD, bonus tracks, DVD of their tour film A Is For Ash and lyrics.

One Night Only ... Ash To Play NYC

New York, rock band Ash will play one show in the US and our lovely city is hosting it. They'll be rockin' the stage down at Santos Party House on Saturday, April 3. You can grab tickets HERE. You don't want to miss this one. Who knows when they'll find their way back to a NYC stage folks.

And if for some reason you didn't already know, Ash will be releasing a compilation record, A - Z Vol. 1, which features songs A - M of their 26 single A - Z project as well as bonus material. The limited edition CD/DVD version of the compilation will feature a tour documentary that will also be available on their site soon. Check out the documentary trailer below.

Ash To Release A-Z Vol. 1 On 4/19

Back in October 2009, Ash launched their singles collection series. They set out to release 26 singles, bi-weekly, over a year long period. Well, they're approaching the halfway mark on this project. To celebrate, they'll be releasing A-Z Vol. 1 on April 19. The compilation will contain singles A-M as well as a bundle of bonus material.

Oh my lovelies, but that's not all! Not only can you pre-order the album now, you also have options. A-Z Vol. 1 will be available as a limited edition (5,000 copies worldwide) CD/DVD combo too. It will feature an A-Z Tour documentary that was filmed last fall. So, you have two physical options to get your Ash fix.

Subscribe to the A-Z Series before Feb 25 and get the dark new bonus track "Night Terrors"

As the band describes it: "Lyrically 'Night Terrors' tongue-in-cheek humor starkly contrasts an angry tale of wished comeuppance upon a despicable individual. This song is for anyone who's known a loved one to have been royally fucked over, to the degree that you'd like to see the guilty party suffer eternally in the grip of their own diabolical insanity."

And like "Gallows Hill" and "Lay Down Your Arms," "Night Terrors" won't be available anywhere else.

Ash Releases Video For "Space Shot"

January 18 will mark the release of the next single from Ash. The song, Single: H in their A-Z series is titled "Space Shot." You can check out the video below. It was directed by Daniel Garcia and has a Star Wars vibe going on. "Space Shot" has officially become my favorite of the singles so far.

Ash Unvails "True Love 1980" Video

For those who haven't heard yet, Ash is releasing a collection of 26 limited edition 7" and digital download singles. These singles will be released every two weeks over the coming year. The first single, "True Love 1980" will be released on October 12 and serves as "A" in their A - Z Series. Check out the video below.

When I first heard of the A - Z Series it seemed a bit odd to me in this day and age when so many artists are reverting to focusing more on albums as a whole then on the we must have (preferably hit) singles mantra. I'm talking play their own music, non lip-syncing, real musicians as opposed to the throw away pop act du jour that insists on wrecking havoc on the development of our youths taste buds. But then I thought about it. I think Ash may have hit on something solid with this. People like to collect things ... it's apparently some inbred instinct that we're born with. So, folks will endeavor to collect all 26 of these songs even if there are a few they may not like because you can't have an incomplete collection. Not to knock stamp collecting, but collecting Ash seems way more fun!

I don't normally list complete tour schedules nor do I usually mention dates that aren't in NY (or sometimes NJ) but in keeping with the spirit of their A - Z Series, they're going to embark on a two month, 26 date UK tour starting in Aldershot and ending in Zennor. Ash's Return of White Rabbit

Ash will release 26 new songs in 12 months titled A - Z Singles Collection. Starting in October, every two weeks for the next twelve months they release one single. The single will be available on 7" vinyl and digital download. All 26 songs, starting with "A" and ending at "Z" will be released on Atomic Heart records, Ash's own record label. They will be available through shops as well as the band's website by subscription.

To start things off, a bonus single, "Return of White Rabbit," has been released. It can be downloaded for free HERE or using the handy little widget below, starting today, May 18. A limited 7" inch will be available starting June 8. This bonus song isn't one of the 26 upcoming songs.
