Miss Guy Releases Groovy New Video

It's no secret that we like Miss Guy here at QNYC. He's one of our music crushes.  Well, he's back with a brand new video.  The clip is for the track "Magic" from his Dumb Blonde EP.

"Magic" has that 70's pop, feel good, vibe going on. It's the kind of song that would have had little bell-bottomed girls squealing, "he's so dreamy!"  The video follows suit with bright groovy graphics. The whole thing just inspires me to smile.  I'm not sure if it's the bright and colorful nod to my time in front of the television as a child or if I just want to smile back at Miss Guy's smiling disembodied head.  Check out the clip below.

Holiday Treats: Miss Guy Dishes Up A Merry Effin' Christmas

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that Miss Guy has a Christmas song.  Today, we have for you, the video.  I'm not one for the, oh shall we say, traditional fair that is dished up this time of year.  So, of course, I found myself giving "Merry Effin' Christmas" more than a few spins.  How could I not?  It's good ol' cheeky fun!  I caution you though, it's not quite safe for work, unless you work in my office where it's on the holiday music playlist that's blasting away as I work.  Check out the video below.

“Merry Effin’ Christmas” is a satirical take on traditional Christmas music with a rock twist. The video features Miss Guy, Matt Katz-Bohen, and Monkey (the King Charles Cavalier Spaniel) in all of their holiday garb and glory. With winter scenes of excess and holiday decorations galore, “Merry Effin’ Christmas” even has a “hot” Santa that is not to be missed.

Miss Guy Releases New Video & Dishes Up A Christmas Song

A few weeks ago, Miss Guy released a new video.  It's for the song "Take It Off" from his Dumb Blonde EP.  It's a fun shake your booty kind of song.

I put off watching it because of this, "WARNING: Video contains STROBE EFFECT which may cause seizures."  I'm not prone to seizures but, the whole strobe thing is a migraine trigger for me.  But, I decided to give it a go.  About thirty-three seconds in I was forced to stop watching because my eyes started hurting ... a warning sign that one of those horrid migraines I get was about to be triggered.  At any rate, I love you Miss Guy...wish I could watch your video.

Check out the video below.  The song can be streamed HERE, for those who may not be able to watch it.

For those who dig holiday music, you can add "Merry Effin' Christmas" to your holiday playlists ... or the censored version, for those of you who have more delicate ears, can be found HERE.

Miss Guy Releases "Sometimes"

Miss Guy has released a video for his song "Sometimes."  The video was directed by Nicole Brending.

The clip features a cast of dolls.  Normally, I find dolls to be a bit creepy.  But, I ended up fascinated by the sad junkie doll with its vacant eyes.  Did I just see a doll orgy?  Wow.  In the end, it hit me that I know some people who closely resemble that doll.

The song didn't catch my ear as much as other songs on Miss Guy's Dumb Blonde EP when I first heard it.  But, the video just ties things together into this sad, but beautiful package.  It has you feeling sorry for the heartbroken doll who's trying to cover his pain in all the wrong ways.  It has given me a new appreciation of the song.

Check out "Sometimes" below.

Miss Guy's Dumb Blonde Is Smart Fun

Miss Guy kicked off the new year in style with the release of his solo record, Dumb Blonde. For the handful of those not in the know, Miss Guy is the frontman of the delightfully fun, glam punk band Toilet Boys as well as being one insanely talented DJ.

Dumb Blonde starts off with the infectious title track. When I first listened to the record it took me a while to get around to listening to the other four tracks. It's one of those catchy songs that grabs you and forces you to hit repeat many, many times and dance around the room. I finally allowed the second song to play only to realize I wouldn't be sitting down anytime soon. Where the autobiographical "Dumb Blonde" has more of a rock edge to it, "Take It Off" is a dance jam of the electro variety. It reminds me of Peaches which in my book isn't a bad thing 'cause I like Peaches. At any rate, it's one of those songs that makes you wanna get a little nasty on the dance floor at the club. There's something a little cheeky about following those two songs with a couple of songs that are reminiscent of 70's ("Magic") and 80's ("Don't Stop") pop music. The latter kind of made me feel like I should be awkwardly slow dancing at a school dance. The record closes with "Sometimes" which is kind of dreamy sounding. Sadly, it doesn't catch my attention in the same way as other songs on the album do.

Miss Guy has provided a compact and diverse piece of musical fun with Dumb Blonde. I'm enjoying it and that folks, makes it top notch in my book.

The video for "Dumb Blonde" has been released. Check it out below.
