Gwen Stefani - This Is What The Truth Feels Like, Out Today

Gwen Stefani released her new album, This Is What The Truth Feels Like, today, March 18.

I've had a couple of listens to the album. I am admittedly a casual fan but, I have to say this may be my favorite Gwen Stefani record to date.

I sense, all over this record, heartbreak, reflection, acceptance, let go of this shit and move on. That's not really surprising considering that she ended a decade plus marriage and regrouped from that. It feels very open, like a journal with words bound together by a pop music soundtrack.

You can purchase This Is What The Truth Feels Like with a variety of bundle options at her webstore HERE. Or, you can get an exclusive version with bonus material at Target, HERE

Michaela May - "1954"

Today we have you for you "1954" from Michaela May check it out below.  The single was released January 29 and you can pick it up HERE.
1954 is a song that represents empowerment and strength in a world where people can and will criticize your every move. I wrote the song out of frustration with old school societal norms that have no place in today's culture. I wanted to write something that empowers people to live their life the way they choose. No matter what judgement or negativity someone faces, it's possible to rise above it and (as cheesy as this may sound) just be who you are. I wrote the song in just a few hours and recorded the song the next day. It’s a defiant, sassy song and it embodies everything I have wanted to say for a long time!

The Aprons - "Day Off"

The Aprons are set to release their new album, Any Human Heart in June.  Check out the video for the first single, "Day Off". The clip was directed by Benjamin Esterlis.  The clip, well, I'll just say, two girls dress up like deer and go into the woods with weapons. We're left to guess/figure out what happens after an off camera gun shot. It's startling, slightly bizarre and mesmerizing. You'll find yourself hitting replay on this one.

Orphan Black Returns For Season 4, April 14

Season 4 of Orphan Black premiers, Thursday, April 14 on BBC America at 10PM Eastern…set your DVR.

I'm a Clone Club fan so I'm looking forward to its return. The multi-charactered Tatiana Maslany is great fun to watch. Check out the trailer below.

Season 4 of the drama will see leader-of-the-pack, Sarah, reluctantly return home from her Icelandic hideout to track down an elusive and mysterious ally tied to the clone who started it all — Beth Childs. Sarah will follow Beth’s footsteps into a dangerous relationship with a potent new enemy, heading in a horrifying new direction. Under constant pressure to protect the sisterhood and keep everyone safe, Sarah’s old habits begin to resurface. As the close-knit sisters are pulled in disparate directions, Sarah finds herself estranged from the loving relationships that changed her for the better.
Returning this season is Jordan Gavaris as Sarah’s battle-worn foster brother Felix; Maria Doyle Kennedy as Sarah and Felix’s foster mother Mrs. S; Kristian Bruun as Donnie, Alison’s partner-in-crime and husband; Kevin Hanchard as Art, Beth’s detective partner who’s torn between his job and his loyalty to the clones; Skyler Wexler as Sarah’s long-suffering daughter Kira; Ari Millen as a mysterious new Castor clone, the likes of which we’ve never seen before; and Josh Vokey as Scott, Cosima’s lab partner. Also returning this season is James Frain as Ferdinand, an intimidating “cleaner” for shadowy organization, Topside; Allison Steadman as Kendall Malone, “the original”; and Rosemary Dunsmore as Susan Duncan, Rachel’s adoptive mother and one of the leading scientists of Project Leda. Joining the Orphan Black cast this season is Joel Thomas Hynes as Dizzy, an edgy, self-reliant hacker who doesn’t conform to group mentality.

Lake Street Dive Releases New Video

So, not having listened to the new album, Side Pony, from Lake Street Dive yet, I was caught a little off guard by they title track. Lawd y'all singing about rockin' a side ponytail?! And much to my dismay, Rachel Price isn't rockin' one in the video!

All that aside, yes it's a metaphor…I'm going to do things in my own way, like wear a tail on the side of my head. It's all wrapped up in a funky cocoon of old school pop-soul that will likely have you dancing around the room while listening. And, gosh darn it, it's catchy as hell and stuck in my head, on repeat.  Check out the clip below.

Side Pony, their Nonesuch Records debut album, was released February 2016. You can pick up a copy HERE.
